Savitri Mundari is seventeen years old. She lives with her Mother, a daily wage labourer in a rented house in Rourkela, situated in the eastern Indian state of Orissa. On the 22nd February 2010, Savitri's mother enrolled her family in a healthcare policy as part of the Samband Social Security Scheme for a cost of 600 Rupees (approximately $13).

Dipu Soni is nine years old and lives in the village of Vijayraghavgarh, Madhya Pradesh. In April 2009 he was flying his kite when he fell from the roof of his house. Dipu was knocked unconscious by the fall and his bleeding remained untreated for some time.
